Roundabout looks like a jumble and is actually a box: two plates near, two plates far, and the stop plate sitting inside the pattern rather than off to one side. It is the stage where the stop plate’s position — only 2 feet right of the center line, at 30 feet — makes almost any sensible route work, so long as you pick one and commit.

Every target is the same
Roundabout is the only stage where all five targets are 12-inch plates at the same height. There is no size cue, no rectangle to make one target obviously easier. What varies is only distance and angle: a near pair at 21 feet, a far pair at 45 feet, and the stop plate at 30 feet, nearly straight ahead.
That uniformity is why it is one of the fastest stages on the board for most divisions, and it is also why shooters lose track of which plate they have already taken.
How to shoot it
- Take the two far plates before the two near ones. The far pair at 45 feet needs a better sight picture; give it your steadiest moment. The near plates at 21 feet are almost point-and-press.
- Work around the pattern, not across it. Far-left, far-right, near-right, near-left — or the mirror — then the stop plate. Circling keeps every transition small; cutting diagonally through the middle makes them all large.
- Note that the right-hand plates line up. The near-right and far-right plates are both 8 feet right of the center line. That vertical stack is a pure depth change with no lateral movement, which is the cheapest transition on the stage. Build your route so you use it.
- The stop plate is 2 feet right of center at 30 feet. It is close to everything. Finish wherever your route naturally ends and come straight in.
The common mistakes
- Losing count. Five identical plates and no size cue. Pick a route and shoot the same route every string, all five times.
- Hitting the stop plate early by accident. It sits inside the pattern, near the middle, at a mid distance. A sloppy transition through the center of the array can find it — and any standard plate still standing when it falls is a 3-second miss.
- Shooting the far pair last. You arrive at the hardest shots with the most accumulated movement and the most time pressure.
