Cleaning & Maintenance That Keeps Guns Running

Guns do their best work when they’re clean, lubed, and checked by someone who knows what they’re looking at. We handle the dirty work on the bench so you don’t have to do surgery on your kitchen table.

In-store service only. No mail-in work. Bring the firearm in unloaded and cased.

Why Cleaning Matters

Carbon, fouling, dust, oil, sweat, sunscreen, and last season’s mud. They all stack up. Cleaning isn’t about shiny. It’s about reliable.

Reliability

Clean guns cycle better, feed smoother, and don’t choke when it matters. We strip, clean, lube, and function check so the first “click” is a bang, not a surprise.

Longevity

Fouling and grit chew up parts. Rust does the rest. Regular cleaning slows the wear, catches problems early, and keeps that rifle running for another season instead of another bill.

Safety

While it’s apart, we’re already there. We look for cracks, peening, loose hardware, bad screws, and anything that makes us raise an eyebrow. If we see it, you hear about it.

Cleaning & Maintenance Packages

Prices vary by platform and condition, but this is how we think about the work. We’ll quote it after we put hands on the firearm.

Level 1 – Quick Clean & Safety Check

Carry guns, range guns, hunting guns that have seen some use.

  • Field strip, wipe-down, and carbon removal on major parts
  • Bore cleaning appropriate to barrel type
  • Fresh lube where it actually matters
  • Basic safety and function check

Good for: Post-season cleaning, post-class cleanup, or “it’s been a while.”

Level 3 – Full Detail & Bench Time

For heavily used, badly neglected, or older guns that deserve respect.

  • Maximum disassembly as the design and condition allow
  • Stubborn fouling removal, rust mitigation, and screw care
  • Channel, pin, and spring cavity cleaning
  • Inspection notes and parts recommendations
  • Test-fire available when appropriate and requested

Good for: Heirlooms, barn finds, and anything that looks like “before” photos.

Platforms We Clean & Maintain

If you’re not sure where your gun fits, bring it in. We’ll tell you straight.

Handguns

Polymer striker guns, 1911s, revolvers, and most competition pistols.

Rifles

Hunting rifles, precision bolts, lever guns, and semi-auto rifles.

Shotguns

Field, clay, and defensive shotguns. Pumps, semi-autos, and doubles.

Modern Carbines

ARs, PCCs, and similar platforms that live on the range or in the truck.

We do not work on every make and model ever made. Some guns are better as wall art. If it’s an oddball, bring it by and we’ll take a look before you spend money on it.

How Cleaning Service Works

Simple, on purpose. No forms in triplicate. No mystery shipping.

  1. 1. Bring It In Unloaded

Firearm cased, unloaded, action open. Check it twice before you walk in the door. We’ll verify it again at the counter.

  2. 2. Bench Look & Estimate

We look it over, talk through what you want, and pick the right level of service. If we see parts that should be replaced, we’ll say so.

  3. 3. Cleaning, Inspection, Call Back

We clean, lube, inspect, and function check. When it’s ready, we call. You pick it up, look it over, ask questions, and go shoot.

When Should I Have My Gun Cleaned?

“When it stops working” is one option. We like a better plan.

Seasonal

Once a year for hunting rifles and shotguns is the bare minimum. End of season is a good time to undo all the weather you dragged them through.

Round Count

High-volume pistols, carbines, and shotguns used in classes or competition should get regular deep cleaning and inspection based on how often you shoot.

Behavior

If it starts feeling sluggish, sounds different, fails to feed, fails to eject, or just makes you nervous, that’s the time. Don’t wait for “bang” to turn into “click.”

Cleaning & Maintenance FAQ

Can I drop my gun off same day?

Yes, as long as the schedule isn’t slammed. Turnaround depends on how busy the bench is, what you brought us, and how ugly it is inside. We’ll give you a realistic estimate when you check in.

Do you offer while-you-wait cleaning?

Sometimes, for Level 1 work and simple platforms, if the bench is free. Most of the time we’d rather do it right than do it fast. Ask when you stop in.

Can I bring my own cleaning supplies?

You can, but you don’t need to. We already stock the solvents, brushes, and lubricants we trust. If you have a product question, bring it and we’ll tell you what we think.

Do you log cleaning work like a repair?

Yes. Every gun that hits the bench is tagged and tracked until you sign it out. We like knowing where everything is. So do you.

Ready to Get the Gunk Out?

If you can’t remember the last time your gun was cleaned, that’s your answer. Bring it in and let the bench crew get it back to work.

  • Call the shop to ask about current turnaround times.
  • Bring firearms in unloaded, cased, and checked.
  • Have questions? Ask. There are no dumb ones, just expensive assumptions.
